Saturday's competition went well, with DJs and MCs from all over the region entering the competition to show off their skills. Contestants as young as 13 competed for the coveted titles of DJ and MC of the Year 2009.
The MC of the Year winner, 'MC Dizzy' saw off some stiff sompetition to claim the title. 'I can't believe it' said the 18 year old of Stoke. 'This is great!' Dizzy wins a state of the art mic set and a course of lessons in recording and performing, as well as a contract with Verbal Arts.
The title of DJ of the Year and the full set of Techniks decks was claimed by our very own 'DJ Lomo', aged 15 and a regular attendee at DJ School for the last 4 years. 'I'm buzzing about this' he said, 'I can't wait to get these decks home and try them out.'
The winners were chosen by a majority vote from the audience in a 3 round play-off.
The DJ School Association would like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who gave up time to run the event, the girls from Positive Movements who debuted their new street dance routines and Jasper and the team from Zenn who supplied the venue.
Special thanks go out to all those who came along to support the contestants and the contestants themselves, who made the whole day really enjoyable and proved that there really is some undiscovered talent in Stoke on Trent.
